Technical Committee
The IACA Technical Committee have been working hard on the review of the Access 2.3, 303 and Liberty Class Rules. These were approved by the meeting and have now been posted to the website. Along with a general tidy up and correction of some errors, the most significant change has been to include the measurement specifications within the rules. The updated class rules apply from December 1, 2009.
An application and approval process for additional and replacement equipment for the 2.3, 303 & Liberty was introduced by the Technical Committee during 2009 and eleven applications have been processed. Access sailors are encouraged to submit applications for any modifications made to boats in plenty of time before competing in any major championships.
Championships
Reports were provided on a number of National, International & World Championships along with an update on preparations for the 2010 Combined Access Class World Championships . There was a venue report for the 2011 European Championships being held in L’Escala, Spain and an update on the two bids that have so far been received for the 2012 Combined Access Class World Championships – from Royal Perth (Western Australia) and Middle Harbour (New South Wales) Yacht Clubs in Australia. Other nations wanting to bid for the 2012 Worlds in the Asia-Pacific Region are encouraged to apply before the end of 2009.
Reports
Reports from the various classes and National Access Class Association were circulated, along with finance, marketing & communication, development and rules & measurement reports. Membership fees for National Access Class Associations and individual members remain unchanged for 2010.
